Remedial Investigation
Remedial Investigation field work commenced in early June at the former Williamsburg Works MGP as part of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)-approved Remedial Investigation Work Plan (RIWP). The work includes the installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, test pit excavations, sediment cores, and soil vapor points to gather information required to determine the nature and extent of impacts at the former Williamsburg Works MGP.
Activities Week of October 12 – October 16:
- Completed the installation of the last remaining proposed monitoring well near the Site.
- Pumped the newly installed monitoring well to remove sediments within the well.
- Collected samples to characterize generated materials for disposal.
Future (two week look-ahead) activities:
- Test pit excavations are anticipated to be completed during the week of October 26.
