Supplemental Remedial Investigation Commences
Supplemental Remedial Investigation (SRI)
Supplemental Remedial Investigation (SRI) field work was conducted at the former Williamsburg Works MGP site under a New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) approved SRI Work Plan. The purpose of the work was to delineate vertical groundwater at Parcels 3 and 4 of the site.
The work consisted of installation and development of 16 monitoring wells on Parcels 3 and 4. The work was completed in September 2024. Information from the well monitoring was used to develop a draft revised Remedial Investigation Report, which National Grid submitted to NYSDEC in December 2024.
A map of the site and parcels can be seen on the Site Description tab.
Ongoing Activities:
- Preparing to conduct Parcel 6 SRI field work (June 2025).
- Finalization of the RI Report for Parcels 2, 3, and 4.
- Development of the Remedial Alternatives Analysis Report for Parcels 2, 3, 4.
Upcoming Activities:
- Parcel 6 SRI field work will begin in June 2025 and will include the installation of 9 soil borings that will be completed as groundwater monitoring wells. Community Air Monitoring will be conducted during all invasive activities. Following installation of groundwater monitoring wells, each well will be developed and then allowed to equilibrate for at least two weeks prior to the collection of groundwater samples.
